Review on Rage Powersports 60-Inch Waterproof Hitch Cargo Carrier Rack Bag: Expandable Height for Ultimate Versatility by David West

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Hard and solid!

Update: just got back from a 1900 mile trip. Used the extension. Despite the 90 degree heat, frost and heavy rain, it held up perfectly and kept everything dry! We used it for the first time this weekend in our small Class B RV, heading into the mountains of North Carolina where temperatures plummeted to freezing. We didn't even use the expansion option, but we were able to store our 10x10 pergola, side walls, two umbrella chairs, a small aluminum folding table, a 6x8 foot rug, three plastic baskets and a refrigerator. This is a Northern Tool cargo ship with sidewalls. See image. We used six straps to secure it. You can pull the zippers together, which is what we did. We also used two bike style cable locks to hold the sides of the cargo box together as they are only held in place by small cotter pins that are easy to remove. We're not paranoid, but we're careful when we travel. The top fastens with a zip and fastens with Velcro. Moisture cannot penetrate. The material is the strongest and most durable material, which leads to the bad news: I gave it five stars anyway because I wouldn't want it any other way, but when the temperature dropped we had trouble accessing it due to the hardness of the bag. We are 65 and 75 and have a bit of arthritis but in the 32 degrees we ended up leaving it open and just shutting up at the campsite. It was just difficult to put on. The weather is warm now so it's a lot more pliable but be aware that it gets stiff in the cold. We were thinking about getting a $700 hard plastic lockable hitch for when we go to the NASCAR Championship races at Saw Fla next month, but we're so glad we bought this instead since this bag and rack combo for less than 1 is so much more flexible for us /2 the price of both. Update: Now it's $70 and we paid $90 (Prime/Smile); You can never go wrong with a tote bag.
