I have a Nutone fan/light above the shower. It was installed when the house was built in 1976. After so many years the fan started making a very loud noise and not the usual hum. Nutone no longer makes the same fan/light model to replace the old one. The one they make is slightly larger and would require me to rip the ceiling off a bit to install a larger Nutone fan/lamp. I ordered this Nutone bathroom fan to replace the one in my bathroom. I removed the old motor and traced its housing to the new fan motor. I used metal snips to cut out the body of the new motor to match the old one. It took some effort to cut and sand down the rough edges on my disc sander, but it came out perfect, as did the old fan motor housing. I installed it and the old fan/light works as before. Check out the photos of the old fan motor and NuTone S0503B000 which I cropped to fit my old NuTone fan/light. It just takes a little ingenuity to make something like this work. I will give this Nutone fan motor build five stars.
