Review on Wood Carving Tools Beginners Professionals by Linda Diaz

Buyer is responsible for quality control

Buyer is responsible for quality control In the end I bought all three sets (4,7 and 12 pieces) because there is nothing comparable in quality on the market at this price are. I started out with a Mastercarver 10 and wish I'd bought a Schaaf 12 instead. There were some issues with some of the Schaaf tools beyond simple tuning and sharpening. Schaaf Tools customer service reacted very quickly and exchanged 3 tools free of charge. (Originally, I had to return the entire 7-piece set after receiving a badly bent V-Tool due to individual replacement parts being unavailable during anti-virus efforts.) So out of 23 tools, 4 (17%) were severely defective and had to be defective replaced. Most problems were encountered with the #11 notches and V-tool in the 7-piece set. Here are some of those shortcomings: 1) Bent blade. Some were insignificant, but one differed from true by 10-15 degrees. 2) Fully rounded beveled corners. 3) Asymmetric forging that provides a different height and thickness between the two halves of the blade. 4) Chips on the cutting edge. Overall, I recommend the Schaaf toolkits for the value and ST's responsive customer service and willingness to replace inferior tools.
