Description of Wood Carving Tools Beginners Professionals

Please Read – Do not buy this set if you are not willing to sharpen your tools. These come factory ground and sharpened, much better than most of what you'll find on Amazon, however, like any gouges, will require sharpening sooner or later. Additional Profiles – Includes: #3F-12mm and 3F-20mm Fishtails: Particularly useful for carving backgrounds around highly contoured, raised relief areas | #3-20mm: Ideal for wasting (quickly removing) large background and "flat" areas | #12 - 10mm: for outlining, separating parts of a relief carving, detailing and carving lines. High Quality Materials – Each tool is made from alloy chromium vanadium steel and hardened to Rockwell C60 so blades will hold an edge for a long time and won't dull quickly with repeated use; Hardwood ash, European style octagonal handles prevent tools from rolling off your work space. 100% Guarantee – If any of the individual tools do not meet expectations, please contact us so we can replace them! If you aren't completely satisfied, please contact us immediately for your money back. Schaaf Brand – Schaaf Tools has been endorsed by Woodcarving Illustrated, and master carvers, including Joe Dillett, Alexander Grabovetskiy among others, so you know what you’re getting with every purchase. We stand behind our tools.

Decent quality for beginners

Not too sharp. 2 out of 7 tool handles were not attached properly and were loose as shown in the photo easily repaired with epoxy. is one clearly bored?. When sharpening, I noticed that the handle didn't line up with the notch, making it difficult to get a straight edge when sharpening. The grips are slightly oversized for good dexterity and slightly different in size (no big deal). Takes a sharp edge. With decent quality control, they can compete with more expensive brands of instruments…

I expected to have to sharpen them. I didn't expect to grind them to get the right cutting angles and profiles. They weren't even close. They are clumsy and the shafts are thicker than I'm used to. But I sharpened them and now they're sharp. Two handles have come loose. Actually it was good because I put them back and aligned…

Buyer is responsible for quality control

Buyer is responsible for quality control In the end I bought all three sets (4,7 and 12 pieces) because there is nothing comparable in quality on the market at this price are. I started out with a Mastercarver 10 and wish I'd bought a Schaaf 12 instead. There were some issues with some of the Schaaf tools beyond simple tuning and sharpening. Schaaf Tools customer service reacted very quickly and exchanged 3 tools free of charge. (Originally, I had to return the entire 7-piece set after…
