Review on Wood Carving Tools Beginners Professionals by Carol Miller

You get what you pay for

I really wanted to like them especially given the price and the good reviews I read. But the reality is that they do not compare qualitatively with gouges from Europe. I expected to have to sharpen them. I didn't expect to grind them to get the right cutting angles and profiles. They weren't even close. They are clumsy and the shafts are thicker than I'm used to. But I sharpened them and now they're sharp. Two handles have come loose. Actually it was good because I put them back and aligned them properly. The other five were misaligned. Place them on the workbench with the concave part of the notch facing down. However, the octagonal handle is not in the recess plane. It's crooked. I have 15 other European bits and they all lay flat. Come on. How difficult is it to install the handle and align it with the curve of the notch so it lays flat? Notch numbers are lightly printed on the grips. Tears after a few uses. European chisel numbers are stamped on the handles and often on the shaft as well. They will not be deleted. The handles have a heavy finish. Some kind of plastic can be felt in the hand. As a result, they are cheap, cumbersome, and poorly assembled.

Nice chisels at a bargain price. Good match for the Pfiels that I already have.
