Review on Tripp Lite Traveler3USB Portable Surge Protector Power Strip with 2 USB Ports & $25,000 Insurance - 18in Cord, Black by Jeff Leu

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent build quality. Compact and durable.

The beauty of this surge protector is its compact size. I can easily toss it in my laptop bag or travel bag and it doesn't get bulky, and the cord wrap keeps everything tidy. I particularly like that it plugs into the third outlet on the back during storage. The power cord has a decent cross-section and looks solid. Time will tell, but it looks and feels good. Note that the total rating of the USB ports is 1A. If you have two devices connected, each will only draw 500mA. 500mA is enough to charge an old-fashioned flip phone, or maybe a slow charge (6-10 hours to full charge) of some low-power smartphones. However, this is NOT enough to charge a typical modern smartphone, let alone a quick charge at the airport. This isn't a problem for us as we have an Anker 5-port USB charger that we take with us when we travel. . It plugs into one of the outlets and provides enough power to charge two of our high-end smartphones, two of our tablets, and a spare battery. Since we only plug in one charger instead of five, the remaining two sockets remain free for two chargers for our laptops. This makes this surge protector the perfect size for us: just the right number of outlets, yet compact enough (and strong enough). experience frequent travel.
