I answered a few questions above and in one of them I mentioned the fact that I've owned K-Cup brewers for many years (probably 10+ years). ). I started with Keurig, but almost every brewer I've bought has died shortly after the warranty expired. Then other manufacturers started making K-cup coffee makers and after much research (and expense) I got my first Cuisinart coffee maker (SS700 type). The first unit died after 1.5 years and I used the 3 year warranty to get a replacement (no service issues at all). The exchange lasted another 2 years and it was time to buy another SS700. My current unit lasted the entire warranty period and then some. Now it's time to replace my current unit and I've been fighting terribly between the newer SS10 and the "Good Ole" SS700. I ended up going with the SS10 for fear the SS700 would be discontinued and I wouldn't be able to get a replacement under warranty. To be honest I wish I had gone for the SS700 and risked it with a guarantee. The SS10, as others have said, is all plastic and cheap. Not what I am used to from Cuisinart whose products are always more expensive but what you got was a very solid product. The unit is slightly shorter than the SS700 which means I have to stretch the bottom panel to fit my travel mugs (fits the SS700). When I ran the rinse cycle for the first time during preparation, hot water dripped behind the filter unit and had to be wiped off with a paper towel. The water tank is smaller and does NOT light up. On the SS700, the tank would light up, and if there wasn't water in it, it would light up and go off, just so you know. If you're in a hurry, you can just press the brew button, go and come back on this device. nothing (you can say, been there before). Finally, call it a nitpick, but it's so annoying! The cup buttons are upside down! They were placed completely illogically (and unlike SS700). There are two buttons to increase the size of the cup. one left and one right. The digital display shows the large cup sizes on the right. Click here to select a larger cup size. With the LEFT button, the display moves to the right (and vice versa for a smaller size)! For real? The machine is also slower to brew a cup of coffee than my SS700s. In terms of quality, the comparison with the predecessor is not very good. However, it makes a delicious cup of coffee. So for me it's like going from Cadillac to Chevy. Chevy gets you where you need to be, just without the bling. And in that sense. I must say that the cost of SS10 is much lower than SS700 and this is reflected in the quality of the product. Nice cup of coffee, but personally I wouldn't call the SS10 a replacement for the SS700. Hope Quizinart has changed her mind.
