I don't know when I'll know that the saying "you get what you pay for" is painfully true. This is a very cheap doorbell. It sounds piercing and looks like a child's toy doorbell. Nothing you would expect from a real doorbell. And even on the loudest level, it's very hard to hear behind closed doors. We installed the bell button outside by our door for about a month. Last night there was a severe thunderstorm with heavy rain and wind. Rain water must have hit the button and the doorbell started ringing at 3am. Terrible doorbell if you plan to install the button outside. I guess that's when most doorbells ring. Perhaps it would go better with an elaborate dollhouse.
