The Topeak system works very well on full suspension mountain bikes where mounting is limited by the seat post. The basket frame is needed when you insert side pockets and have everything in them. If you do not use the frame, the packages can hit the rear wheel or related parts. The bags have parachute cord at the bottom which I tried to use to attach the bottom of the bags to the outside of the axle and quick release mechanism, but no matter how heavy the bags were when riding off-road, the bags still hit. On flat roads and at low speeds, the cables alone hold the bags off the bike, but any decent push will make them pop.
