i tested this after using the rm700 on a trip from new jersey to california about 9 months ago. What I liked about rm700 is that it sounded right when it was your turn. This came in handy when we got caught in a white snow storm in Wyoming and had to leave. Our only clue to turning was the bell and that pretty much saved us. otherwise we would have hit the curbs trying to veer off the freeway. I was pretty well set up with the rm700 but wanted to try out Garmin just for fun. Benefits for Garmin: (besides those already mentioned) 1 . I placed mine on the windshield next to the rearview mirror. it is so small very easy access and I didn't have to turn the volume all the way up.2. Detour, trip details, next route and all related data within 1 or 2 taps.3. has only two options: the shortest and the fastest. but records the fastest and shortest route (unlike rm760).4. lightning-fast redirection5. There is an option to disable U-Turn rerouting (very important). I thought the rm760 would be the best unit as it is more expensive but I was wrong. The poi are pretty good as they had a higher price but I think half of them will be out of date next year. That's pretty much all I like about rm other than the beep. What I hated about rm7601. redirect redirect. For example, if you missed an available exit and have a "shortest time" routing method, you will be prompted to exit at the next exit, turn, go the other way, exit again, and then try again . What the hell. Even if you miss the road, he will tell you to make an U-turn, or keep telling you to "make the next legal and legal U-turn". With a Garmin (same destination and same detours), it just steers you the other way. I drove about 3 miles before the GPS made sure I wasn't going to turn. that's just unacceptable. bad satellite reception. I've lost signal in places I haven't been to Garmin. and this thing will get stuck (I actually missed the turn) while it does. I lost the signal on the highway (no tall buildings or mountains).3. the turtle slowly redirects. compared to the garmin, the rm 760 took an average of 10 seconds longer to realize i was lost. It's annoying when you're driving at 55 km/h and need to know which street to turn right into. big and bulky. The big screen is nice, but I hardly noticed what it was.5. shortest route, smallest stretch of motorway = more driving time. However, I think this applies to both devices. and now that the c330 is three hundred bucks cheaper, i feel this thing overpowers the rm760 unconditionally. rm760 is a case where you don't get what you pay for.
