Review on πŸ”¨ Dremel 9929 Rotary Tool Engraver Bit - Diamond Point for Engraving Metal, Glass, and Wood - Grey/Gray by Gabe Ries

Very useful but very short lifespan

Yesterday I decided to try my hand at glass engraving. I used a 12" x 12" piece of glass to frame the images and simply copied the image placed under the glass with my Dremel engraver using the 9929 bit. This bit was surprisingly easy to work on the glass for quite a while. By the time the engraving was about 70% complete, this diamond tipped drill was almost useless. The diamond tip is completely worn out. I don't know how long I took this advice on, but I really thought I could finish at least one engraving. I'm a bit disappointed with this product mainly because they aren't cheap bits. At around $11 or more, glass engraving can get expensive very quickly. However, while the blow lasted, it etched the glass evenly and cleanly, and I was very pleased with the lines I was able to create myself on that first piece.

Pros
  • Brings joy
Cons
  • Legacy model
