I bought 2 strings of 50 colored bulbs. I really like how they are battery powered. There are 8 modes - I prefer to leave them on all the time, this is the 8th mode and you have to keep pressing until you get to #8 - #9 to turn it off. Unfortunately I didn't test the garlands as well as I thought when I first received them. The purple lights (which is why I bought the lights) were much darker than the other colors on both strands. (the other colors are nice and bright) When I wanted to hang them on the Christmas tree (2 months after I bought them) one filament, a couple of bulbs didn't work at all and some were REALLY weak, almost burnt out. . Unfortunately the rear window was closed. The second strand, the violet lights, are very faint and seem to be getting fainter. They were only on the tree for about 5 days. I am extremely disappointed. I have other battery operated Christmas lights (various brands) and they are much better.
