I bought this device after carefully studying its capabilities compared to competing devices. One of the important features that led to my rating was the ability to use maps from other regions. To download a Garmin map to your device, you must use the free Garmin Express app. Unfortunately, at the time of writing this review, Garmin Express does not allow the installation of new regional maps on devices with a Drive 61 or 51. I spent several hours getting it to work (the night before my trip to Europe) and another 1, 5 hours of support with technical problems (day of travel). Technical support was able to reproduce the error on their own test device and is working on a fix. My interaction with Garmin since then has been amazingly professional but very disappointing. It's been too many hours in too many days and I don't want to invest more. I will return the device for a refund. Comment for Garmin: My final decision is to use Google's free offline maps on an iPad I already have, although I was willing to purchase a dedicated device from you. So, this particular error by Garmin's QA team results in the loss of a customer, lost sales, and damage to your brand. Why wasn't this tested before the product was released to consumers?
