Easy installation. And the one that came with my charge controller worked fine. I bought another one when I ordered the controller as it said it didn't come with the MT50. The one I ordered separately was defective and kept giving me error messages. Says high temperature, bad battery and something else. He not only read these codes, but also forced the normally functioning MT50 to do the same. Luckily, after I unplugged the faulty device, the problems and incorrect codes were gone. It was easy to get it back through Amazon so all will end well. I like the smiley face on the display and the different system monitoring screens. If you get one that works great, if you get a lemon like my second one you won't be very happy. But pretty sure you need one for these controllers
