With this little tool I snapped the old 9 speed chain and put a new one together with no problem. It's small but has enough leverage in the grip to easily pop the pins out. It seems a bit fragile when in use but it didn't break so maybe not. I found myself being careful yet moving slowly, watching the tool the whole time to make sure the pin was centered and the chain was flat against the tool. Has it ever broken? But it was one of the cheapest "brand name" tools I found, so paying more to get this feature is smart. In the end I recommend this tool and I am satisfied with my purchase.
