No effect on reducing heat from the sun
Purchased for use on east and south facing windows (3' x 6' each) to try to reduce the amount of sun coming in. On a sunny summer day, each window receives about 5 hours of direct sunlight. Using a handheld infrared thermometer, the inside of a window pane WITH film installed read 1 to 1.5 degrees F HOT than the adjacent pane WITHOUT film! The film is specular and darker than clear glass, so the film appears to absorb some heat rather than reflect it.
