Good quality seat, not so good hardware

Seat quality - Very good, well constructed and nicely finished. Made from real solid oak, NO VENEER! The quality of the hinges is satisfactory, although the mounting hinges are relatively light. The quality of the bolt/nut is junk, it failed immediately. Anyone who has ever changed the toilet seat (and who has not?) knows that the anchor bolts corrode after several years of cleaning. When both bolts and nuts are nylon, corrosion is minimal and the nuts can be easily removed. If the screws are brass (or brass-like) and the nuts are nylon, removing the nuts is not easy, but it is possible. If both bolts and nuts are metal, then removing them is a real grind; It's easier to cut the nuts with a hacksaw or nut cutter. Try this trick by getting stuck between a toilet and a wall! This toilet seat comes with metal screws and nuts, and the screws are made of relatively soft metal, so the screw head seized and fell off immediately when it was first installed. Oh, and they didn't hold the seat securely so the seat started to slide the first time I used it. Obviously these nuts and bolts needed to be replaced immediately. Luckily my local hardware store had replacement bolts with nylon nuts. One day I went out; bought them; came back home; original screws and nuts removed; and reinstalled the seat with newly purchased items, the seat will hold securely, making installation a pleasure. Not very expensive and just a little complicated (remember the instant grab and go?), but still pretty frustrating when you're dealing with a $30 toilet seat! Would I buy this again? Possibly, but I would buy spare bolts and nuts before opening the package!
