I had a newborn puppy that needed more space after the puppy. I used this to give him more space and also put him outside when he was ready for outdoor activities, but I didn't want him to have to deal with violent adult dogs indoors. Light enough not to be bulky but strong enough to hold securely. I added an extra latch at the bottom of the door. That allowed too much distance and I was afraid he might get caught. I would give that a 5 if there was an additional latch on the door. However, this can be easily fixed with the help of an additional lock.
