I love to cook fried food at home but I don't have enough oil. According to America's Test Kitchen, you can reuse fried butter if you filter out the brown bits and discard the burnt bits, if any. This grease trap does just that. It can withstand high temperatures and comes with a wide-mouth filter. I made homemade tempura shrimp. I got the shrimp from Costco, smaller than restaurant shrimp so they will work in a 4 quart oil pan, after dipping them in the batter and then waiting at least an hour or so for the oil to cool, then I have the chunks filtered, I waited for the oil to cool completely before putting them in the fridge for the next tempura dinner. I usually use the oil up to 3 times and then throw it away. This pan is a good container for storing leftover oil. When there is no oil in it, it is also a good bowl for making instant ramen or other types of instant noodles, a very convenient small pot for one person noodle soup.
