My son was so scared of hitting that he started taking gentler swings to make sure he had some sort of contact. He was a great contact striker from a young age and had enough success to feel like he was doing the right thing. What he didn't realize was that he was sacrificing a lot of power to make good contact. As he rises through the ranks, he's learning that the best players can now catch and throw the ball, so simple contact isn't always enough. These weighted balls were recommended to me by another coach to teach him how to throw a good, confident swing and do it around the ball. In a very short time he has moved a ton with these balls. The weight of the ball forces it to swing hard and full instead of just getting the racquet in the zone to make contact. These balls were just what my son needed to get over that hump. Mission accomplished!
