Very, very easy to use. There is only one provision that the key is removable. This is the locked position. You simply screw the cap onto the car until it clicks, then check that it clicks into place when turned counter-clockwise. When you're ready to fill up, just insert the key and turn it left and it will lock and open the lid. When you pull the key out you have to turn it straight to the closed position and then just put the cap back on and tighten. Make sure it's locked by turning it counterclockwise and it should snap freely.
