These are the best secateurs I have had in over 35 years of gardening. I currently have a huge garden and have been severely behind on maintenance for the past few years due to fibromyalgia. Well, I retired last year and started gardening very early this spring. It's summer now and I've been using these secateurs for probably at least 50 hours. I don't mean that it was 50 hours on my belt. I mean, I've been cutting branches for 50 hours. After this time the blade is still very sharp. When it was new it was literally razor sharp. And it stays razor sharp for a surprisingly long time. For the average user with an average garden, it will stay razor sharp for at least a couple of years if you don't bang on the trellis wire or use it to cut roots in the dirt. It's pretty amazing. One reviewer wrote that his car was rusty. This is not my experience. The first few days I used it I then rubbed thick oil on the blade. But since then I've just rubbed it with oil to get rid of the remaining juice. With the exception of some juice residue, the blade is as polished and shiny as the day I received it. There isn't the tiniest speck of rust. In any case, a thin pair of pruning shears should be treated like a wood chisel and wiped down with a medium to heavy oil after use (no WD40, only use WD40 to remove resin). Fiskar once did a workaround. Secateurs that were a serious competitor to this Felco. It wasn't as sharp, but cut very large branches just as easily. But they stopped doing that about 12 years ago. I've since spent over $50 to get a decent pair of secateurs. I wish I had bitten the bullet sooner and bought these instead. They have an interchangeable blade. So if Felco doesn't go bankrupt, they're going to last the rest of my life; which according to the actuarial tables should still be around 20 years.
