Two different mechanics suggested that the fan motor switch could be expensive to fix. First the low (1) speed went away, then both 1 and 2 worked. I accidentally read a thread about this for my 2000 S10. It has been suggested that replacing the fan motor resistor might solve the problem. For example, do this before replacing the fan motor or switch, etc. So bought it and watched the video. was not a difficult task. All in all it took me about 20 minutes. The video doesn't show the battery being disconnected, but it's the very first thing I did. The resistor is located next to the fan motor in the engine compartment. If necessary, you can view multiple videos. This solved my problem. All 4 speeds are back and for under $20 and 20 minutes. I always try to get genuine GM parts whenever I can. That worked great for me.
