Lesson Learned: Industrial Magnets

So here's my experience with what I think is a good solution for maximizing countertop space. I thought it would be a great idea to get sticky magnets to magnetically hang baby candy and coffee grounds off the counter. Well here is my experience. Waking up every morning before sunrise with broken glass and coffee grounds is no fun. I didn't know if someone broke in or what fell down. It was like pow. clap. Crash. smash. Unfortunately, after realizing what had happened, I had to go through the kitchen to turn on the light and I found the candy had fallen. not the worst! My feet, because who has time to find his shoes when he thinks his house has been broken into? So now I have a boo-boo, a bad night's sleep, candy and coffee grounds everywhere, and a huge mess that needs to be cleaned up around 3am. The vacuum could not be removed! Everyone was asleep, including the sick child. What a treat to wake everyone up 3m away. So after my post-clean inspection, 7 patches later, 9 stars, less than 1/2 tin of pins - total wreck, M&M's - total wreck, coffee grounds - apparent total wreck (there was serious, maybe 4 tablespoons) and I don't have the jars filled, obviously I didn't want that to happen. I used 2 magnets on each jar lid and cleaned under my counters where I put the glue. The glue is still sticking to the top of my counters, it's peeled off the white spacer between the magnets and the cabinets. So it's still sticking there and peeling off easily, but the 3m tape is broken. 4 magnets broke in half and now I'm eating jars and candy. That was my experience and I didn't have it for long.
