The knee with pink pieces is the check valve. Everything works fine when properly installed.

The pink elbow is a check valve that replaces the elbow on the pure water outlet of the reverse osmosis membrane. There is an arrow on the fitting which you cannot see in the photos. The float valve must be correctly aligned when installed so that it "locks". The 1/4" plastic pipe ball valve is the cheapest option I've been able to find on Revain. Great little kit compared to many other options.
