If you're buying the B03CG Pro for outdoor use, you'll need this. I don't think a laser level can emit enough light to compete with the sun (without a deadly one to be a weapon). With this detector it's fairly easy to find the level in bright sun at a fairly long distance (I personally did 50ft - that was all that was needed for my project). A tip: If the sun shines directly on the detector, it can blur the signal from the laser. In this case, simply rotate the detector at a 45° angle to the beam (horizontal). This reduces glare from the sun without losing the laser signal.
