Great gadget

Who doesn't hate applying cold butter? These knives are simpler. It's hard to explain, but they have little holes in the end of the knife, and you get a sort of "oil cup" when you scrape it against solid butter. Butter dish melts faster on warm toast and you can spread butter easily. I recommend this product. In fact, I bought a set for myself and gave it away twice.
