Melted on first use making pancakes

I'm not sure how the product became completely unusable the first day after using it exactly as intended. Manufacturers may never have tested it in large use cases. How can such a reputable company sell a tool that melts almost instantly in a frying pan over medium heat? When I first used this spatula, I was frying pancakes in a non-stick pan on a glass plate over medium-high heat. I didn't leave the spatula in the pan. I just touched the pan briefly, checked the bottom of the pancakes and flipped them. However, the part at the top has already melted and solidified again. Now when I touch this part with my fingers, tiny bits of black material separate from the melted end. I'm afraid some of them accidentally got into the pancakes. Instead I will buy a new silicone spatula/spatula and use it in the future.
