Great product for little ones! Fits nicely in our 72" hallway. You must read instructions. To get this far you must rotate the handle, release the button, and then pull the gate all the way to the closed position. You DO NOT have to hold the handle and pull at the same time. Twist the handle, release then pull it all the way to close, it's like a seat belt, if you stop it it won't move any further and you have to twist the knob again and try again.
