Review on Jessem Model 08350 Dowelling Master by Jay Lee

After a long search for a reliable dowel tool I came across this one. I was very apprehensive about spending 189.00 for a device I would only use occasionally, but the accuracy and functionality is amazing. I recommend you for the money, I would absolutely recommend the master kit. Primarily because it includes everything you need for a variety of hole sizes. With that in mind, here are my pros and cons: 1) Easy to use and align 2) Good bits for drilling holes 3) Sturdy pilot bits that don't kink or play. 4) Step-by-step blocking of measurements, makes it easier to set up and operate. .Cons: 1) No coverage? Don't have a storage box? Nothing! For a core set, I would expect something to streamline or hold all of these things. That was my biggest complaint about it, especially for the price. 2) Can be supplied with a gauge or other device to accurately determine the center or recommended center of the board. 3) Clamping and drilling is a little troublesome. I would highly recommend adding a self-locking, non-scratch clamp to the body that can be removed if you are making a different type of dowel. Overall, I really liked this purchase, and despite its cost, the accuracy is worth it!
