Perfect for raising butterflies from caterpillars

This is the smaller tent but it's all you need to protect caterpillars so they can make it through metamorphosis into moth or butterfly form. Be sure to put some forked sticks in with the caterpillar(s) because they like to climb and wander up and down. Clean the frass out of the bottom EVERY DAY and restock fresh leaves for them to eat. Birds will eat caterpillars so you can save a couple out of the food chain and watch them make the change. One side is clear so you get to see the whole process. Keep the enclosure clean and if you see a sick, weak or listless caterpillar, remove it immediately because it can make others sick. It's sad, but some of them just don't make it. When they climb up to the top, or attach to the stick and make a chrysalis, leave them alone and watch for about 10 days for the chrysalis to change colors, indicating the butterfly or moth is ready to emerge. Let them stay in the tent in a quiet place for a couple of hours while their wings harden before letting them free by unzipping the tent flap near some trees where the new butterfly can fly out and take cover immediately in branches and leaves.
