First off, this isn't advertised as a $500 washing machine. It's in the $20 range and worth it to me. They describe it as "dishwasher and washing machine". I have used several of these items or very similar ones. This one seems pretty solid and works as advertised (I've only used it once so far). I have used these types of detergents for washing small, light clothes, as well as similar items for dishwashing. For small, light clothes, it works like a normal washing machine, mixing clothes and water. The difference is that you have to do everything else like rinsing and spinning yourself. This element has several modes. Automatic (performs all cycles), motion (rotation) only, ultrasonic vibration only (used in some dishwashing detergents), and bubbles only. Blending works great for small, lightweight garments. When using a dishwasher, I sometimes use an automatic one (but because it doesn't have a fan grill, the dishes sometimes get in the way when spinning). I also only use ultrasonic vibrations to wash dishes with soapy water. While it doesn't clean like a standard dishwasher that costs hundreds of dollars, I keep in mind that I would soak dishes on a "Super Soak" setting. This gives me time to do other things in the kitchen while the dishes are reasonably clean. I've also noticed similar products advertised as "portable sink dishwashers" that only have the ultrasonic vibration feature and sell for more than double the price. So for me it's quite expensive and seems to do a decent job.
