Review on Wera 05003973001 Zyklop Socket Set, 3/8" Belt B, 9 Pieces, Pack of 10, Black by Shawn Jimenez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Beautifully crafted, intelligent socket holder design, precise instrument feel.

Certainly not the cheapest option - but it's like a German tool maker owned by Apple - lots of great design touches that (to me at least) justify the higher purchase price compared to cheaper off-the-shelf products. Of course, the rosettes are a perfect fit, well made and seem robust enough for my hobby. If you're repacking gears 8 hours a day not sure if they'll meet your needs, but they're great for use in my own workshop. Nice features include a matte satin finish, easy-to-read and color-coded nut sizes, and a cloth holder with an instinctive twist-lock design for locking heads in place. I like it more than the all-metal push clip design, which has a lot of semi-sharp edges for scratching work and hands, and is more fussy to put on and take off. While I went to China for my standard combo keys (although I craved the Wera Joker sets, which for my casual use were too rich to warrant a purchase), this upgrade seemed like a reasonable upgrade. The matching Wera wrenches are not included in this set, but they are well made and visually appealing. But plastic ratchet switches are also recommended, just for ease of assembly. All in all, Wera and Wiha were my top choices for mechanical tools.
