Connects to the factory 6-pin connector on the rear inner recess of the viewfinder. Some Subaru have it on the right side, but on my 2006 Outback XT it was on the left side under the fairing. Trim faces east when following some YouTube videos. Just plug it in and it works. You can leave it loose and just slide it under the tailgate, the rubber seal will soften it enough. I decided to remove the spare tire and there is a rubber plug on the left rear side. I took it off, cut the slot about 1/2 and used RTV to seal the slot and wire. Then I tied the wire to the hitch. Over the years I have had to fix SHIT trailer splice wires. Scotchloc will cut 2/3 of the strands and over time the remaining wires will break and you will have no light. Get it right with this kit.
