Review on 🚚 Trailer Valet TV5X LiftJack by Matt Ellis

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Useful, clumsy, but above all, be careful!

Only three stars because while it's exactly what I was looking for to move the boat, it's really clumsy and can easily be very difficult to handle. Nothing is more affordable, be careful when using it. Problem 1: First, it's bulky and I have to leave it on my boat trailer. There are too many swinging parts to remain stable, so I'll tighten everything up when I reach the boat ramp. You can remove the wheel and crank, but it's cumbersome and requires you to have tools and spend extra time to do it each time. Problem 2: When testing in a dry cobblestone driveway, I had no problem getting my boat and trailer. up a slight incline and 1/2" concrete curb into my garage. (There was a lot of twisting but it worked). Then I took the boat out for the day, the Trailer Valet got wet on the boat ramp, came home, tried cranking it up to my garage as before and the tires kept slipping once I hit the slopes.and wouldn't have done that lip.Loss of traction due to use in the water (tires were dry when I got home) or due to extra weight on the Rear of the trailer when I was adding 30 gallons of fuel? an experience, but also a dangerous one because the lack of traction made it still skid even with the brakes on. Can you say panic! Problem 3: When the wheels started to skid , the bolt holding the wheel axle to the valet suddenly broke off.It was scary as I imagined losing my wheels to the valet and then seeing my boat damaged was harmed. Luckily I saw it stop and used an allen wrench to tighten it back up. Wow unexpected! I will check this every time I use it. Problem 4: Cranks can be tiring, so I grab a drill because a little momentum can both help my back and get the trailer over the garage ledge with a little momentum. Also, I'll move the valet further forward to the ball hitch for more traction, but I don't have much room to mount it on my trailer's breakaway tongue.

Pros
  • Posi-Traction for maximum traction and easy handling
Cons
  • Something different
