Review on ☕️ Fellow Corvo EKG Electric Kettle: The Perfect Pour Over Coffee and Tea Pot by Kevin Mitchell

Looks great - Bad smell and taste

I wanted to like this kettle. I bought it to make tea or coffee in hotels when traveling. This one seemed to travel better than the gooseneck version. Looks great, nice and compact. Temperature control and temperature hold are nice additions too. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. This kettle heats up fairly slowly, taking 4 minutes and 11 seconds to heat 750ml of water from 65 to 205F. Another kettle took 3 minutes 38 seconds to heat the same amount of water over the same temperature range. It's even faster with a pot on an induction hob, but not as well. Although it's not a big problem. A little more annoying is that the outside of the kettle is not insulated, so it heats up just like the water inside. This is also not a violation of the terms and conditions, but you should be aware of it. What makes this kettle absolutely useless is the smell/taste that comes out of it. If you look inside at the bottom of the kettle you will see a sharp edge between the edge that contains the heating element and thermistor and the side of the kettle. This area looks black like there is some kind of connection between them. My guess is that the binder (probably epoxy) is giving off that weird smell that people are talking about in the reviews. For me it was so noticeable that I could feel it in the tea. If there's a folder in there, that doesn't seem like a good idea at all. Which will inevitably fail over time. Whether it's a folder or something else, that smell/taste really needs to be considered before putting these things on public display. This is really very bad as the design is very nice and otherwise it looks like a quality kettle.

  • Hands-free operation
Cons
