I've had this for about three years and have used it on a lot of batteries. I don't find this useful because when you enter a CCA rating for a battery, after the tester has performed the expected voltage and continuity checks between cells, it compares the CCA to a number somehow retrieved from the battery. If the number is not in the expected range, you will be prompted to charge the battery and try again. When you charge a battery, it usually passes the tests. What it doesn't show is the battery's ability to hold a charge for long periods of time. I've seen batteries pass tests and not start the car the next day because they can't hold a charge. If this device could actually do a stress test, it would detect this fault in the battery. But that is impossible. It only detects obvious errors, such as B. Undervoltage, which you can see with a voltmeter, or open circuits between cells, which you can also see with a voltmeter. It can read the generator output signal. I don't know if it does exactly that as all the generators I tested worked fine. The tester just confirmed it. I haven't tested a bad generator.
