Soft but VERY strong chemical smell

Chenille Yarn Hand Knitted Soft Thick Handmade Blanket DIY for Kint Blanket Pet Pillow Bed Homemade Yarn in Impressive Vacuum Packed in a Ziplock Plastic Bag. He would definitely never fit in there again. The first thing that struck me was that the yarn was gathered in loose bundles, held together with just three ropes, not in skeins or skeins, and with no labels or marks. The second thing I noticed was the smell - a chemical smell that made me cough and choke. The yarn was immediately sent to the garage. I kept one strand inside to play with as the smell wasn't as strong when there was only one strand. I have no idea how many skeins are in the bag - I didn't want to pull them out and count. I ordered 6.6lbs / 3kg so according to the listing I got 12 skeins? I do not know. The tag on the bag says only 6.6 pounds. It states that the yarn can be machine washed in cold water, tumble dried on low or air dried, do not use bleach, solvents or fabric softeners, and do not iron. [Who irons the yarn?] It's made of "micro plush microfiber, which is a hypoallergenic material. He'll become your best friend." ? [Who writes this text?] It's soft, but I felt like regular chenille, which is much softer. It's almost like a microfiber that sticks to your fingers, but not quite. The listing suggests using 8mm/US 11 needles and I tried this to try but I think the needle size is too small It was difficult to pull the thread through because it was sticking to itself and I was afraid of snapping the thread. This gives about one stitch per inch and the fabric is very tight. You shouldn't pull on the end of the yarn as it breaks very easily. I can fold the end over and sew a few stitches around stopping it when I knit from it It's a good enough yarn and I'm thinking of pet beds or a blanket until the smell is gone.
