Skepticism out the window

My opinion on this seatpost changed when it solved the problem of getting a workable fit between aero bars and my drops on my gravel bike (note: you can't with standard geometry, you have to choose one or the other if you don't have exotic bars). It's not cheap, but it's definitely cheaper than a custom aero bar. It's a little heavier than a standard post, but it's worth it and the quality is excellent. The adjustment was just enough to fit my Selle Italia (my particular model has very high angle rails for some reason). The transition was easy from the start - it requires minimal effort, but sticks once you find the settings you want. Pulling the saddle forward is a bit more risky than pushing it back - you want to stabilize yourself as much as possible by bringing your hand closer to the stem and pulling your other hand behind the saddle. Use your body, not your hand, on the wheel to generate traction, this will save you from steering jerks.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Very expensive
