We just connected this to a fan in our coop. This gives us peace of mind that the fan will automatically turn on to cool our chickens when the weather is hot, but will also turn off when the temperature drops to keep them warm. Currently we have it set to turn on at 80 degrees and turn off at 75. This winter we will be adding another circuit to start the heater when it drops to single digits. Updated 1/3/18. Well, now we use it to power the radiant heater in our chicken coop. We have experienced several days and nights with temperatures below zero and are concerned about the well-being of the chicks. I have set the thermostat to open at +10F and shut off at +15F. In our well-insulated chicken coop, temperatures rise several degrees and remain above freezing for the most part for our girls. We are very happy with the tranquility it gives us.
