They work great. I also put in a paper filter before filling and there is virtually no mess! You can use them as is but I prefer the paper filter as it helps with less waste in my sink and old pipes. I also save the soil and put a compost bin in the kitchen. I use soil for my organic garden and I particularly like using it for my young blueberry bushes. The powder builds up quickly, including mine when using the Keurig Mini Plus Brewer. I sincerely recommend the product also because I control the strength and type of coffee. Blueberry coffee is also my favorite and not always easy to find. I use the New England coffee line from Malden, Massachusetts. I now use this purple set for evening decaf or homemade mint tea (I grow mint) and use the black set for decaf.
