I have purchased 2 of these so far. They work great for in a tent or right around a campsite. It's true they don't throw light out a great distance but I didn't expect them too. They're so much easier than my Coleman propane lanterns or flashlights. I do use the Colemans for lighting around a campsite, but it's really nice not to have to fire one up when I don't need to.There's an option of batteries in this but so far I've never needed batteries, I just charge them up before I leave to go camping and every once in a while I'll may need to charge one during the trip.So, while you won't be able to light up a large area with one of these, they work great for small areas and I hardly ever use flashlights anymore.
