Lives up to the hype (and will wow you)

The V60 really lives up to the hype. The purity and softness of the coffee produced is incomparable. I like it a lot more than pouring over a french press or metal filter. Size 02 easily holds 50g (9 tablespoons of whole beans) and 750-850g of water. It could probably handle 60g. The 02 server only fits 600ml (grams of water and milliliters are the same, 1g of water equals 1ml) but the 02 dropper bottle easily fits a 32oz insulated metal cup (embedded brand) so that's just what I do it right in. If I knew I would probably just buy a dripper and some filters or go to the Server 03. The ceramic has a nice weight that keeps everything sturdy. I've seen many reviews online talking about how unforgiving the V60 can be. I didn't think that was true. I use a slightly smaller grind size than kosher salt. I just use an electric grinder and do 15-17 one second pulses. If you want a stronger drink, make it a little smaller. The ratio of water and coffee (in grams) depends on personal preference. Range is 15:1 to 19:1. I suggest starting at 17:1 and making adjustments from there. A gooseneck kettle isn't strictly necessary, but the scale can actually change the ratio. Be sure to rinse the filter and preheat the pipette and service/cup with boiling water. The only downside to thick ceramic is that it absorbs a lot of heat, but preheating eliminates that problem. Both the dripper and the server are easy to clean. The opening in the server is big enough to fit a rag through, but if you have huge hands this can be a problem. Happy brewing!
