This is my second purchase. worth protecting. I have a small cleaver that doesn't fit in the knife block. Using the edge protector allows me to securely hang the cleaver on a hook with a hole in the cleaver blade over the counter/under the kitchen cabinet. Don't worry about accidentally plucking something while the cleaver appears hanging. Why a second purchase? I've had the original edge guard for many, many years and recently replaced it for aesthetic reasons. I recently attempted to crack open a coconut with a cleaver. I forgot to remove the edge guard and threw out a lot of hard punches, wondering why the cleaver wasn't cutting, and then realizing I hadn't removed the edge guard from the cleaver's edge. To my surprise, the edge guard survived. Although there were a few micro-cracks, the guard did NOT break through to expose the cutting edge - and I'm talking a few HARD hits! I could live with it "as is" but I decided to replace it anyway. It has a sure cutting edge. It is perfect for storing knives in drawers.
