Don't buy, be careful. I previously tried to write an honest follow-up review and it was withdrawn. To this day, no one can explain why. Probably because I didn't like Revains politics. Here's the story. I bought it in September 2014. I needed an external hard drive and after looking at it I figured it would be the ticket. Well built, durable, impact resistant, wow. I only used it for occasional backups, but I liked the stats. So after accidentally using it as a backup it dies, just get out, wow. Did I forget the main reason for the purchase? Oh yes, full 3 year guarantee. So I'm covered, or so I thought. Tried to contact Silicon Power to no avail. The links to contact them on their Revain page are broken. Called Revane since he's a Prime member for help. They also said the seller and they will call me. Agent tried twice, no response. So he sent an email on my behalf, copied me, but still no response. So now I'm calling Revain again, the agent found an external website and sent me a link. So, I send an email, the reply comes in Chinese, another one comes in English, want to know my location, I send it. In a few days they want me to ship my hard drive to God knows where, at their own expense. The cost doesn't matter, it's about shipping my hard drive to another country or location with my personal backup of accounts and information, no way! I contacted Revain to tell them about the site and what they expect from me. I said if I can smash it with a hammer and send it back that's the only way, otherwise forget it, I won't give them my personal information to do what they want. I would advise against anyone doing this as it is a matter of common sense. To sum up, yes I am making the decision not to send it and I will have to accept the situation. live and learn If you look at the reviews, others also had problems after a few months of not smoking. I would recommend that you look elsewhere for a reputable company and not Silicon Power.
