A good dog will not only follow you, but will anticipate your actions.

I bought this 4-5 years ago when I was attacked by a dog while cycling on country roads. The first time I hit him and walked away, but it was close and I knew I had to do something else. On the day of purchase I put it on and drove off. No dogs attacked me, but a young guy who was working as a guard at the youth camp gate fell asleep and I took it upon myself to wake him up and it worked fine. I don't think he even suspected that the noise was coming from my bike. Since then I've prevented 3 dog attacks, the last of which prompted me to write this article today. It's difficult, a good dog will not only track you, but predict your trajectory and intercept you. What you do is when the dog is a few feet away and at full speed and wants to bite you, blow your horn and pedal like crazy. You have a second or two and the dog starts from scratch and you can walk away. Don't fool around and rejoice, just ride as hard as you can until it's gone. This horn has sat on my bike exactly the same since the day I installed it. It's done several thousand miles, moved twice and still runs great, 0 maintenance, still holding air. Seriously, that's the best $25 I've ever spent. I have no doubt this saved me from serious medical bills where I would have had to sue the owner and wasted a lot of time and possibly time at work. If you drive a lot on the road, especially on back roads with yard dogs, you need this horn. It comes in handy for traffic jams sometimes but when they don't hit me I tend to turn the other cheek and move on, I got this to keep dogs from biting me and it's great for that.
