This fan is very handy in hot weather! It was 4:00 p.m., about 86°F with a light breeze. I started with the fan on medium speed. I felt comfortable even in direct sunlight. Around 7pm I turned the fan on to low speed as the sun was going down. When I finished my fishing trip at 8pm the battery level dropped 1 out of 3 lights. This type of neck fan is definitely an improvement over the crazy ones that look like you have propellers on your shoulders. One important thing to remember is that while the fan motor is quiet, the air blowing directly over your ear isn't that quiet. This is not due to the fan itself. Imagine you are standing directly in front of a room fan. Same idea. I didn't get a chance to run this fan until the battery died, but I ran it on medium for 4 hours and it only lost one battery light. I'm not quite sure how to convert that to time remaining, so take it how you like. Overall I am happy with this neck fan.
