I had a broken ignition on my '04 Jetta GLI. This causes my air conditioner, fan, headlights, wipers, etc. to not work. I removed the steering wheel and plastic trim around the ignition switch and replaced the switch. Problem solved.**** Please note when removing the steering wheel and disabling the airbag. Do not turn on the switch test key as this will generate an airbag trouble code which needs to clear the vag com. Reconnect the airbag and then the battery to the test switch. **** Always disconnect the battery when working on the airbag. **** Always place the airbag face up when putting it to one side. ****You will need a T-55 Torx bit to remove the steering wheel. ****The dielectric grease should help prevent future breakage of the switch. **** YouTube is your friend.
