Not sure if this is an LG fan or a fan for the G-sync module, but this fan has a very noticeable coil-like sound. LG would be lying if they said there is no fan here, because there are not one, but two. The first fan visible is the LG fan and right after you turn on the monitor you can hear it whistling. You can hear him whine from 15 feet away. I honestly thought it was a problem with my outlet or something with a bad ground or something, but no, it's the monitor. You can also hear it over "normal" audio. It's SO high pitched. I would return it if I could because it drives me crazy. The bad news is that otherwise this is a fantastic ultra-wide monitor. Edit: I lowered my rating to 1 star. After speaking to LG support they decided NOT to fix the unit which means I can pay out of my pocket to have it fixed or try to replace the fan myself as I saw online, seems to be common. Unfortunately, and now we know why, LG decided to list this monitor along with 5 other monitors that aren't even the same product in order to skew the review process. If the user does not indicate anything in the rating, the buyer will have to guess himself. It's absolutely outrageous that a company as big as LG should refuse to put a $2 fan in a $1800 monitor.
