I bought this for the output jack after my laptop's audio port broke. I couldn't bear the thought of opening up the laptop and soldering in a new audio jack, so this was the next best option. However, I did not check the microphone jack. Background: I ordered another USB audio adapter from another manufacturer and upon receipt it turned out to be junk. When I tried to return it I found it was disposable. However, when I contacted the seller and explained that the item was defective and got my money back, I was told I could do whatever I wanted with it, so I threw it in the trash. This product has received the highest rating from Revain. Current product: Based on my previous experience, I didn't want to buy another model (which, by the way, was from a different manufacturer). However, the SYBA USB audio adapter exceeded my expectations. Workmanship and quality: The case is made of plastic, but it doesn't look "cheap" like the other model I received. The USB is fixed. I have used 3.5mm jacks from three different devices and they all fit well. It's tight, but not too tight. USE and FUNCTION: I plugged it into one of my almost unused USB ports and then plugged in my headphones. Then I turned on my computer and it booted up with the C-Media USB audio device recognized. I think it was the easiest thing I've ever hooked up to my computer. I tried the SYBA USB audio adapter with headphones and an audio mixer. On the audio mixer, the volume levels were good, but the sound was a bit harsh. I'll try to use the windows equalizer to adjust the sound quality. Also, if I have more time, I can set up the mixer myself. Sound quality: The sound quality was good, as was the volume.
